Layne Albert

Layne Albert is a Tax Services partner focusing on financial services in Grant Thornton's New York Midtown office. He has more than 25 years of experience in identifying, understanding, and managing federal and state tax issues related to complex business transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, financings, recapitalizations, securitizations, reorganizations and bankruptcy. Albert advises boards of directors and works closely with CEOs, CFOs, heads of tax, asset managers, banks, private equity investors, hedge funds, IRS staff and investment bankers. Immediately prior to joining Grant Thornton, Albert served as a partner with AM Taxand for nine years, where he advised clients on the federal income tax ramifications of complex business transactions and on tax department design and operations. In addition to his experience as a tax consultant, he was also vice president of tax for two public companies, practiced as a tax attorney and held other tax positions in industry. He is also a frequent presenter for Tax Executives Institute in New Jersey and New York, as well as nationally.
